The LEON processor is a SPARC8-compliant soft core for use in embedded
systems in diverse application fields. The LEON core supports SMP
(symmetric
multiprocessing) systems of up to 16 processor cores, interconnected by an
AMBA bus.
This thesis aims to setup a multiprocessor system based on the LEON core
on a network
of six FPGAs. This includes to provide the runtime environment to allow for
distributed applications. Based on a distributed example application,
the impact of
the shared AMBA bus on communication performance shall be investigated..
