Design of Systems-on-a-Chip for Communication Applications |

|
Mobile computing and telecommunication applications requires a highly
integrated, miniaturized implementation of systems with low power
requirements. These systems typically contain a processor, buses and
embedded cores like an MPEG decoder, a DSP or an encryption unit and
many others. System development time is reduced by using a platform
oriented design style, by reusing embedded coreware or by providing
generic system software.
The topics for the presentations are in the field of
- Design methodology:
Reused embedded cores, core integration, distributed system design
- Applications:
Cellular phones, Bluetooth, PDAs, ...
- Software for SoCs
The seminar is offered in cooperation with the leading developer of
embedded CPU cores ARM Ltd. (Cambridge, UK) and the telecommuncation
company Ericsson (Stockholm, Sweden). Introductory talks will be given
by Gunnar Carlsson (Ericsson) and Pete Harrod (ARM).
Students presentations may be given either in English or in German.
The first meeting will be held at April 27th in room 2.026 at 8:30.
